HIXSON — Contemporary Christian recording artist Steven Curtis Chapman will share the stage with his wife Mary Beth and their two sons Caleb and Will for a special “A Night with the Chapmans” event Thursday, Sept. 23, at 7 p.m. at Abba’s House.
The event will also be an opportunity for the community to get to know event sponsor Bethany Christian Services.

The five-time Grammy winner and multi-platinum selling artist is bringing back “SCC Request Time” by popular demand.
The audience will hear Mary Beth share about her journey being married to Chapman, her struggles for emotional balance and living with grief, all of which is reflected in her inaugural book “Choosing To See,” co-written by Ellen Vaughn. Mary Beth and Steven will also introduce audiences to the band Caleb, a new band featuring their sons Caleb and Will.
According to the website, the Chapmans have just returned from China to celebrate the one-year anniversary of the opening Maria’s Big House of Hope, a healing home for special needs orphans in Luoyang, China.

CHATTANOOGA, TN — Bethany of Greater Chattanooga has a new ministry opportunity for Christian families to show the love and compassion of Christ to families in our community that are facing various crises. The ministry is called Safe Families for Children. We are looking for host families who will provide parents a short term, safe, protective place for their children in times of crisis.
With the changing economy, thousands of families are facing job loss or financial crisis that can lead to housing loss. Others are dealing with illness, lack of social or family support, unpreparedness for parenting, substance abuse or incarceration. During such crises, many parents are in jeopardy of not being able to provide a safe and stable environment for their children, who can be especially at risk as parents struggle to cope with their circumstances and emotions. Without assistance, some of these situations will lead to abuse and neglect....
